Our Process
Return-to-Duty Requirements
If you’ve tested positive or refused a DOT drug or alcohol test, you’re required by federal law to complete the Return-to-Duty process with a qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) before you can return to safety-sensitive work. Brian Bauer, SAP, is here to guide you through each step, ensuring compliance and helping you get back to work with confidence.
Step 1
Initial Evaluation
Your first step is a confidential assessment with Brian. This session helps determine the level of education or treatment required based on your specific situation. You’ll also receive clear guidance on what to expect moving forward.
In-person and telehealth appointments available across Missouri. Offering flexible and unconventional scheduling for appointments.
Step 2
Education and/or Treatment
Based on the initial evaluation, Brian will recommend an appropriate program. This may include drug and alcohol education, counseling, or treatment services. He’ll help connect you with the right resources and ensure your program meets DOT guidelines.
Step 3
Follow-Up Evaluation
Once your education or treatment is complete, you’ll return for a follow-up evaluation. If you’ve successfully met all requirements, Brian will issue a written report stating that you are eligible to return to duty.
Step 4
Return to Duty Drug Test
After having successfully completed the SAP Process, your Designated Employer Representative (DER) can set you up for your DOT return to duty drug test. Upon receiving a negative test result, you are eligible to return to safety sensitive functions.
Ongoing Testing Plan
As required by DOT regulations, Brian will also create a follow-up testing plan that your employer must implement after you return to work. This ensures continued compliance and supports your long-term success.
